John Updike dies
He won the Pullitzer Prize, twice, and got a lifetime achievement award for Bad Sex in Fiction last year.
Like him or loathe him, John Updike was a very prolific writer with more than 50 books and who knows how many short stories, essays and poems.
His insight into the inspiration and writing of one of his most famous stories, A&P, in this 1995 interview is well worth a look.

the loss of John Updike makes me wonder if the literary world is being replenished at the same rate that it’s losing such great writers
